INTERNET VERSION 2 part one

15th, sunday, december 2013

Image sharing is a fantastic way to get your work up on the net and with the internet at the stage its at is great, as we can load pictures in a matter of milliseconds, due to the advance ability's of the broadband, images are freely available. As where 10 years ago you could be waiting anything up to 5 to 10 minuets for an image to load. No more is there any need to buy a reel of film that takes up storage space for other more important things, and making a trip down to the film developers just to wait hours even days for something that should be instant just to find out that they were imperfect.

With the arrival of digital cameras being available to the consumer since the early ninety's but technology still lacked and the internet was still primitive, even though image sharing was around at this point it wasn't good. In the last 5 years the internet has grown very fast and gotten better and better at each turn making image sharing super quick, so what is Image Sharing?

Really it's very simple image sharing is a service such as flicker, deviant art, newgrounds, instagram, social network sites and the list goes on and on and on. This way of displaying images digitally saves you having to wait for prints also, I know sometimes it can be nice to have a canvas but you can't change that. With mobile devices like Iphones and Androids and now even Nokia, windows phone finally catching up to the heard we are able to publish there and then so we dont forget, these days you rarely ever hear,

"Oh I wish I had a camera"

The great thing is not only is there not just images to show your friends but indeed the whole world, so if your pals don't care for your photographs are digital/traditional art, a complete stranger 3000 miles away can tell you how well or how bad you have done on your recent works, it is truly revolutionary. The one thing that make a service like this so amazing is that its free, and lets face it when is free a bad thing, also apps like instagram have loads of free tools to make your photograph look the best it can.

With great power come great responsibility, by this of course i mean there are limitations and risks of what goes up on these sites and higher the risk the younger the age. Unfourtunaly there are people out there that target young children and teens on the internet. Other than that I personally have seen some really immature stuff that has been posted by teens, of which I do not wish to talk about on my blog for security reasons.

MMORPGS! Everyone likes video games right?

Well even if you aren't too fond of online video games it is a fantastic way to communicate with large community's who most likely have similar interests as you not only have the instant chat whist taking down hoards of enemy's, you can make friends to way into the battle with you. MMORPG's dates way back to the times of the early 90's more precisely 1991 there was a game called "Neverwinter Nights"  this paved the way for more successful games down the line but the core technology stayed, a game that goes by the name of World Of Warcraft took this very basic technology and beefed it up to a point where the game managed to gross 12 million players at it highest point.

This could only mean good news for the communications of the game and the medium itself grew to a staggering number, since its original release date in 1994 to current date 2013 many many people have made friend and battled together, baring in mind the game was not always an mmo rpg, that was since 2004.

In addition with the ground breaking fan base they grew and form many forums and discussion boards which lead to a lot of selling and trading of accounts, and yet more growth of people keeping in touch. The community is so strong and well built there has been large talk on the games own Reddit section, yes World Of Warcraft has its own section on one of the largest social news and entertainment website, Reddit. There was a meet at Connecticut airport seven or so years ago where a couple that have met on the game are married more info at the link

http://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/10u9gg/i_just_proposed_to_my_girlfriend_i_met_on_wow/

This just goes to show what the ability of communication in video games can effect people lives. I truly believe that its an amazing way to meet great new people as well as speaking to someone on a chat room or any real-time communication service.

Forums are a medium of meeting where ideas can be agreed upon and discussed throughout a means of communication. Forums are great places to discuss issues in current news or in another sense of discussion. There are many different names for a "forum".

In the past they have been referred to being called names such as message boards, bulletin boards, some even call them threaded discussion boards. The simplistic definition of a forum per Se is a place where people from all over the world if granted permission can have the ability to start something called a thread which is a way of communicating whether you would like to discuss topics, or ask a question and to have it answered and be able to obtain a response or a reply and vice versa in which you can reply to someone else's discussion or query. The point of posting to a forum is for everyone to see, so in it being publicly visible makes it possible to build up a discussion without users having to be online all together at the same time this is rare anyway as the time zones can be anything from 1 - 10 hours apart. The basic structure as is follows.

As we can see in the diagram from left to right is the order of hierarchy for a forums task force. Usually it would go from average user, then to the Mods or Moderator these guys can control the what topics and messages are allowed and are fine to be posted to the website these are considered to be senior moderators, then just below them you have your junior moderators who control what should be in which category. There is no particular difference in ranking for both the senior and junior moderators this is just to differentiate between who has what job. Above all of that you have your forum owner who is top dog CEO if you like and controls all he or she is pretty much god on the website he has the ability to ban anyone whether that be user member or mod.

The registration of a forum is fairly simple much like joining a online service like Google which you most likely do if you use the of a daily occurrence, the service is fairly straight by just choosing a username and password like below in the example.

Above I Have explained how easy it can be to set up an account for the access of a forum account.

Methods Part 1

9th, Monday, December

Email in short, is an electronic mail. There are multiple services that provides an email account for you to send messages and receive messages. You are probably wondering whether you can send pictures, files, documents and other attachments, the answer is yes this is totally possible, actually this has been available to people since 1971, but not the general public as it was rare that the consumer had a personal computer in their own homes. It was in 1996 that electronic mail was capable of more than just text, also by this year the rate of traditional mail (i.e. paper, envelopes) dropped by a large number.

An email address firstly is set with a alias, user, name or a company name this will look like the following:

name@emailprovider.com

'name' is the alias or user name, which is then followed by the '@' sign, finally to finnish the email is the domain name which is 'emailprovider.com'.

When you receive an email from a friend or company you will need to make sure that you have some sort of anti-virus software, recommended would be macafee or avasti, if those are too much you can get a slightly worse freeware (meaning it's free) when opening as phishers and hackers send out emails for unsuspecting victims to pick up on and get in to their system which can lead to you getting money taken out of your account.

There are multiple ways of receiving emails you can either use an e-mail client, such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. These are only suggestions of course there are many clients to choose from, but what is more popular in most homes is to use the  email service that can be accessed through your internet browser these would be providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, Webmail the list goes on and on.

Using the a e-mail client means you must have a server in order to store data whether that be pictures, documents or other attachments. This is done through an ISP (internet Service Provider) many browser providers are free and easy to set up.

If you were to write a new email message to some one like have below, you can see there is many different fields in which need to be filled in to be able to send the email these are things like the CC (Carbon Copy), your email, the person who you are sending the message or attachment to, subject (what it is about in a few small words) and finally the message body from where you type your whole message, if you wish you could have a signature, this is compulsory to a job. As a recipient should know who the message is from and this shows that.

Communication Protocol Part Three

Broadband

30th Monday, September, 2013

What is Broadband you may ask? Broadband is a bridge from you computer in your warm secure home to a very large network of extremely loud and scary looking servers which just so happen to store the untold amounts of information, the internet.

Broadband is a major upgrade from the undoubtedly low specifications of 1.0 internet that may have taken you over a minuet or so just to look at a photograph this was, in a way a more traditional way of accessing the basic internet and was referred to as "telephone" or a more professional term would be "modem". The upgrade to Broadband made the ability to send information much quicker and efficiently.

On the basis of Broadband, its a service that has multiple providers you can think of this as different shop to buy your groceries, but what they do is to provide you with a service over your phone line, television or satellite. This enable for a service that can handle taking the masses of large information right to your computer, so all the sites that have multimedia functions to be experienced in real time, in home or office.

Connection to the internet is impossible, (unless you haven't paid your bills on time or the router isn't turned on). Which allows you to browse and surf to your hearts content, so that means no down time like TV in the late 20th century. This also makes it possible to you to call your great aunt Mildred 2000 miles away and still have the ability to stream a live boxing match, and jump into a heated online fps game with very little latency, and so much more with very little drop in the connection. In this age you simply pay a monthly fee such as you would for insuring a vehicle for a free and unlimited service so you are not charged by time spent on the web but just per month. If you pay as you go this then does differ, as you pay for a chunk of date, like you would on a mobile phone if you needed to.

The capability's for downloading have also changed drastically, you now have the ability to download at a staggering 100 megabytes per second and more, as before pretty much everyone was stuck at a very poor bps or kbps, these speeds do still exist however depending on where you may live. You can even take advantage of chatting directly using either a desktop client such as Skype which also allows a voice chat if you have a microphone, which is great if you are a freelance worker that operates from home or there is  MSN  (Micro Soft Network) which is another form of instant messaging.

Lastly a Broadband connection to the internet means you can receive real time services like, online radio stations, live streams of your favourite gamers or someone who you are a huge fan of such as a musician, also phone calls, random webcam chat ,ect...   Compared to how it was in the 80's and 90's the internet is much easier to use and a hell of a lot more fun, not to mention how fast and efficient it can be, This really does appeal to the work from home types with the thanks of a much higher speed.
